Quarterly taxes shouldn't require an accounting degree.

🤷

Guessing your quarterly payments

Underpay and get hit with penalties. Overpay and lose cash flow for months until your refund arrives.

📊

Mixing SE and W-2 income

Self-employment tax only applies to 1099 income, but federal brackets apply to everything. Getting this wrong changes the math dramatically.

🧮

Bracket math is confusing

Seven progressive brackets, a Social Security wage cap, Additional Medicare thresholds — too many moving parts to calculate on a napkin.

📅

Income isn't evenly spread

Most freelancers earn unevenly. A big contract in Q3 pushes you into a higher bracket. Your Q4 payment should reflect that — most tools don't.

One spreadsheet. Every answer.

Enter your income as you earn it. Select your filing status. The spreadsheet calculates everything else — SE tax, federal tax, deductions, and your exact quarterly payment amount.

  • Self-employment tax with SS wage cap
  • All 7 federal income tax brackets
  • Quarter-by-quarter payment schedule
  • Deductions: Solo 401k, HSA, health insurance
  • 50% SE tax deduction auto-calculated
  • Supports all filing statuses

Four tabs. Everything connected.

Every formula is live. Change one input and the entire workbook recalculates instantly.

Tax Rates

Every 2026 rate and bracket in one place — fully editable yellow cells. SE tax rates, standard deductions, and federal brackets for all four filing statuses.

Actual income or projected — your call.

Both methods run side by side, so you always have two perspectives on what you owe.

Method A

Actual YTD (Cumulative Brackets)

Uses your real income to date. Tax is calculated on cumulative income at the end of each quarter using progressive brackets, then each quarter's payment is the incremental tax for that period.

Why this matters: When you cross into a higher bracket mid-year, the next quarter's payment reflects the actual marginal rate — not a flat average spread evenly across four quarters.
Method B

Annualized Projection

Projects your full-year tax based on your actual earning pace. Log a few invoices in January and it immediately estimates your annual liability. The projection sharpens with every entry you add.

How it works: YTD income × 365 ÷ days elapsed since Jan 1. By Q3, this projection is built on 270+ days of real data. Start early and you'll have a reliable quarterly number before your first estimate is even due.
